The Management Committee

The Management Committee (MC) meets approximately twice per quarter to discuss matters relating the running of the CCA and to  formulate the agenda for the next general meeting.

Roles of the Management Committee

President – as the head of the association, the president:

  • chairs all meetings
  • drives and coordinates the MC to meet the objectives of the association
  • ensures the association complies with all the rules and regulations of an incorporated association
  • ensuring compliance with legal requirements
  • liaises with council and heads of other organisations in matters about the issues raised by the CCA membership.

Vice President – provides support to the role of president by undertaking some of the above responsibilities.

Treasurer – responsible for organising the association’s finances:

  • preparing budgets and financial reports
  • managing membership payments
  • ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations

Secretary – administration role focusing on:

  • membership and correspondence registers
  • meeting notifications and publishing minutes etc.
  • website administration

Other roles - ordinary committee members – a minutes secretary (taking minutes), and other volunteer members who support the MC.

Supporting the Management Committee

The association was established with the objective of representing the Cootharaba community on issues that affect the community.

Our Management Committee members contribute many hours of their time voluntarily to ensure the views, concerns and interests of the community are represented to relevant state and local government representatives.

How members can help

The Management Committee cannot always attend every meeting, workshop or community consultation relating to matters of interest or concern to the community. The support and involvement of ordinary association members is therefore essential to achieving our objectives.

Members may be asked to:

  • represent the association and the broader community at a meeting, workshop or consultation
  • work with other members to form a sub-committee to investigate a particular issue
  • research and progress an issue on behalf of the association
  • provide updates to the Management Committee on progress and outcomes.

Community representatives and sub-committees may also be asked to respond to questions from members at general meetings.

Working together

By sharing the workload, members help ensure that important community issues receive the attention they deserve while supporting our volunteer Management Committee.

Any recommendations or decisions arising from the work of community representatives or sub-committees must be presented to the Management Committee for consideration and ratification at a Management Committee meeting.
